Now comes to my favorite city that almost never was!
When: September 2019
Leiden was a city not as recommended as others, one I thought I might get to if I have a chance. But because I wasn’t feeling a big city, taking the tram from the train, etc (The Hague) I decided to go to Leiden. In Leiden I took a boat tour, my first touristy thing! And it was wonderful. I really do find the town beautiful. It’s a college town, much like the one I lived in for college, and you could feel the buzz of the city right away. Honestly I didn’t take many pictures here because I was busy living! I went out for dinner and started talking to the gentlemen next to me with a dog. We chatted for a while and I enjoyed his company. I went and sat under a tree by a church and relaxed for a bit - again wonderful! Finally I decided to head home, but it was early. So I stopped by a, what looked like to me, brewery. I smiled at the cute bartenders and started talking to Ed, the guy next to me. Hours later, much conversation and learning about each others cultures - Bas, Thor as I teased him - spoke to me in a bunch of different languages and brought me drink after drink. It was a WONDERFUL night and Ed nicely walked me to the train. Oh Bas did tell me some cool history about two Richards during a war. I teased him he had to if he was to keep bringing me drinks. I really enjoyed my time and was sad when the rest of my trip wasn’t like this. If I had to chose a place to move, Leiden would be top on my list! I almost didn’t go there, I almost went home, and it was by far one of the best nights of my trip, exactly what I was looking for.
