I was born in Butte, Montana and both my parents and I have gone to the St. Patrick's Day celebrations over the years. I was really bad about taking pictures so this year I forced myself... I did better during the day but got too distracted that night. Although it was a blast I was home by 11 pm.
At noon there is always a big parade. We went this year, usually we didn't make it. It used to be at 10 am and they changed it to noon this year so I think a lot more people went. We found my cousin's and stood by them - I have a lot of family in and around Butte. The parade was fun. It snowed for the first half which was a bummer but the snow did make the photos come out beautifully. One thing to note: a semi-truck decided it was going to join the parade, well it was actually a float. HOWEVER I can tell you the one thing NOT to bring to a parade is a freaking semi. Due to the crowding it could barely turn the corner.
After the parade my mom and I went to a near by restaurant and bought corned beef and cabbage for my grandma. Then we ventured over to my friend's house, drank some beer, had some AMAZING Blarney Stone Cake from the Uptown Cafe, and dyed my hair green.
Oh this guy climbed up into one of the abandoned buildings. It was kind funny to see him but it was also very unsafe. The building looked like it has been on fire once and I'm sure the wood was rotting - one bad move and it likely could have feel through the floor. He also could have fell out the window. The firetrucks soon showed up and made it come down.
After we went downtown, well uptown since Butte is on a hill, and bar hopped. Some of the bars had great music and we did a lot of dancing. I made a lot of news and had a blast. When I went home I showered to get the green out of my hair and drank A LOT of water to avoid a hang over! All in all it was a fun day! :)
