Vikingsholm Castle | Tahoe's Hidden Castle

My mom and I hiked to Vikingsholm Castle a few weeks ago - if you want to review the hike click HERE. Today I thought I would share the actual castle tour.

Where: Vikingsholm Castle, Lake Tahoe
When: May 2017
Instagram: #BriDoesTahoe

COST: $10 for adults, $8 children
HOURS: 10:30 AM- 4:30 PM
LENGTH: 30 minute guided tour
SEASON: Memorial Day until the end of September

The castle is located at Emerald Bay in South Tahoe. Parking is located at the top of the hill; you have to hike down to the castle and back up.

The castle was under construction when we toured so I was told our tour was unique. The tour guide talks about the construction and owners over the year; the gift shop also has a "mini" museum with photos and descriptions.

It was interesting to learn about the owner(s). Mrs. Knight, the original owner, treated her employees quite well, paying for many workers and their children's colleges. There were also caretakers who lived there year-round. I personally couldn't imagine what that must have been like!

Overall, I would say the tour is worth it. If you want more information on the castle, click HERE
