The BEST Little Black Dress

My blog got a new look, so why shouldn't I? Now don't worry, I'm not changing so much as evolving.

Lately a few things have been bothering me. I was going through my closet when I realized two things 1) I have nothing to wear and 2) I'm sick of "cheap" clothes.

Now I'm not saying there is anything wrong with shopping within your means. But over the years, I would spend $20 here and $50 there on clothes that ripped or faded after a few wears. I wish I would have been more selective and bought timeless pieces. But that's easier said than done. I've spent good money at places like Anthropolgie and ModCloth only to realize I was  paying for the brand and that expensive did not always equal quality.

So I started out on a hunt. A hunt for good quality clothes - clothes that will last the test of time. And it led me to Brooks Brothers/Red Fleece. Needless to say, I found my new home. I bought 2 dresses and a shirt in Seattle, and they are the most comfortable clothes I own. I should have been shopping Brooks Brothers my whole life!

My goal is to bridge fashion and professionalism with quality. And it's a huge task. I've scoured the internet and found a lot of ideas for men but not women. I've been told places like Zara, Nordstrom, J. Crew... but I have a friend who doesn't agree they are as good as quality as Brooks Brothers. Yes, Brooks Brothers is somewhat expensive but I just found 2 Brooks Brothers dresses and a blazer on Ebay for $120 total... so start there!!

On the hunt for quality clothes, here are a few things I learned.

  1. Dresses should be lined, always.

  2. Fabrics like cotton, wool, linen, or silk are GOOD (with stipulations - read this article (HERE) if you really want to become a pro!)

  3. Always feel the fabric before you buy it if you can.

  4. Don't forget about "dry clean only". Some things you can hand wash at home or in a newer washing machine. Just be careful!

My goal is to bring to you professional, fashionable, quality, classy, and timeless looks. So stay tuned!

P.S. I know the Brooks Brothers dress is a little pricey but it's such a good investment. The material is thick, it has pockets, and it looks good on everyone. I have hips and it totally hides them, as you can see. And it's long enough to be professional but still sexy as hell! One guy I was dating literally said, "I hate to watch you go but I love to watch you leave!" as I walked away from him wearing this dress! That says it all! P.S.S. when I bought this dress, it was in the actual store and it was on sale so if you have a BB by you, check them out!
