Purple Smoky Eye

Today I thought I would switch it up and post a fun new purple smoky eye I tried earlier this week. I've been noticing lately how harsh black eye makeup looks on me. I love the way dark colors make my eyes pop but I've been trying to incorporate different, more natural colors, into my every day look. I don't know why but I've always been against browns and pinks, which my mom always, and rightfully, told me are better shades for my hair color and skin tone.

So many fall makeup tutorials online use dark, deep colors and for the longest time I tried to recreate those looks on me. But I'm unique in that I have extremely light skin and hair. One of my more recent makeup goals is to find looks that look good on me! I think there are a lot of fair people like me who either try to wear darker colors or tan the heck out of their skin. But fair is beautiful!!!! And I'm going to show you ways to let it work for you!

On my eyes I am wearing:

{Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original}

{Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Virgin}

{Clinique All About Shadow in Jammin'}

{Maybelline Expert Eyewear in Vanilla}

{Urban Decay Eyeliner in Ether}

{Maybelline Define-A-Lash Lengthening Mascara in Very Black}

First I covered my eyes with primer. Then I covered my whole eye with Virgin, my lid with the light pink in the Jammin' pallet, and the crease area half way across with the darker purple shade from the Jammin' pallet. I lined my upper lid with the Ether eyeliner and put mascara on my upper and lower lashes. I've stopped lining my lower eye with eyeliner because I think it makes my eyes look smaller.

Finally I finished by placing the Vanilla eye shadow below my brow and in the inner part (corner) of my eyes. I've read that placing a white eye shadow in your eye like that makes your eyes "pop" more. Looking at the first picture, I definitely think it made a difference in brightening up my eyes!

Do you have any fun non-traditional smoky eyes that you like to wear?
