Hypoallergenic Dogs Recommendations

Sophi is one of my parents' two pups. She is around three, I believe. She is 100% maltese. Many of you many wonder why we bought small dogs. My parents and I are allergic to animals with fur and feathers. We found out the hard way when my dad brought home the cutest american eskimo. We had to give her back. My mom and I cried for months.

Our allergy symptoms include itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and hives if they lick or scratch us. My dad also coughs a lot around them. My grandma has asthma so he probably has a little of that too. When I was little, my doctor told my parents if we had pets that I could develop asthma. Thank goodness my parents put me first and didn't subject me to possibly getting asthma.

I would say our allergies are pretty severe. Within thirty minutes of being in a room with most pets, I'm starting to itch. I went to an indoor rodeo a couple years ago without any medication and had to leave due to excessive itching, sneezing, and watery eyes. It was horrible.

All of my life, we never had pets. Finally we decided we would try hypoallergenic breeds (meaning less likely to cause allergies). And low and behold, our dogs, a maltese and a maltipoo (maltese + poodle), don't cause any allergies for us.

A little about Sophi. She LOVES cheese, and pretty much all human food. She barks at everything and is a little hunter of all things that move. She loves chewing on toys, exploring the outdoors, and soaking up sunshine. I feel like I am writing an E-Harmony profile description for her, ha ha

Let me know if you have any questions about her, especially if you have allergies and are looking to get a dog. Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday.
